TSCII to Indoweb Converter

History

Characteristics

TSCII uses the upper half of the 8-bit character space (128-255) for Tamil characters while keeping ASCII intact. This allows mixing of English and Tamil text without encoding conflicts.

Indoweb encoding was designed for early Tamil websites and web-based applications before Unicode web support became standard.

Indoweb was created in the late 1990s to enable Tamil content on the early World Wide Web when browsers lacked proper Unicode support.
